1976 Gibson Les Paul Custom Black Beauty
It was in 1954 that the Les Paul Custom was introduced by Gibson, initially as the "Les Paul Model", but was quickly renamed the "Les Paul Custom" to reflect its status as a high-end model.
Gibson's goal was to create a guitar more luxurious and refined than the Les Paul Standard, with additional features such as a glossy black finish, as here, called Black Beauty, pearl block inlays on the ebony fingerboard, double-sided pickups windings originally from Gibson's famous PAFs and a headstock adorned with a mother-of-pearl "Custom" logo.
The Les Paul Custom has been used by many great guitarists, including Carlos Santana, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page to name a few. It became a symbol of the golden age of rock and roll and is still considered one of the most prestigious and sought-after electric guitars on the market today.
Its legacy also continues with numerous reissues and limited editions produced by Gibson each year.
