€600

The Hofner brand is a German company specializing in the manufacture of musical instruments, mainly guitars and basses. Founded in 1887 by Karl Hofner in Schönbach, Germany, the company initially focused on manufacturing high-quality violins, violas and cellos.

In the 1920s, under the leadership of Karl Hofner Jr., the company expanded its product line to include acoustic guitars. These early Hofner guitars were handcrafted using traditional techniques and were highly regarded for their sound quality and playability.

And it was after the Second World War that the Hofner brand experienced significant expansion. Walter Hofner, the son of Karl Hofner Jr., having taken over the management of the company he began to develop electric guitars and basses.

In the 1960s, Hofner enjoyed considerable success thanks to the worldwide popularity of the Beatles, whose Paul McCartney played on a Hofner 500/1 bass. Demand for Hofner basses exploded, propelling the brand onto the international stage. However, even after the Beatles period, Hofner remained a respected brand in the music world.

Today, Hofner is still a recognized brand in the field of musical instruments. Its instruments are appreciated for their quality of manufacture, their distinctive sound and their musical heritage.

The history of the Hofner brand is a testament to its commitment to excellence and tradition in musical instrument manufacturing. His instruments have made musical history and continue to be appreciated by musicians around the world.

Here, this Model 4900 12-string was made in the early 1970s, possibly even the late 1960s.
