Conde Hermanos Classical / Flamenco Guitar from 1986

€1.900

Conde Hermanos, also known as the Conde Brothers, is a family of renowned Spanish luthiers, famous for their classical and flamenco guitars.

The history of this company dates back to 1915 when Domingo Esteso founded the main workshop in Madrid, where he passed on his knowledge to his nephews: Faustino, Mariano Conde Sr and Julio Conde. After Domingo Esteso's death in 1937, the three brothers continued to carry on his legacy under the banner of "Viuda y Sobrinos de Esteso" (Esteso's widow and nephews) until 1960.

Between 1960 and 1988-89, the company went through several names, including "Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso Conde Hermanos" (Esteso's nephews, the Conde brothers) and "Conde Hermanos Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso" (the Conde brothers, the nephews of Esteso). At the same time, Julio Conde opened a new workshop at Atocha Street 53.

In the 1970s, Mariano and Faustino Conde introduced a major innovation by making flamenco guitars from rosewood, breaking with the tradition that favored Spanish cypress wood. These guitars have enjoyed great success with many flamenco guitarists, such as Paco de Lucía, Oscar Herrero, as well as other musicians of different styles like Al Di Meola and Bob Dylan.

Later, the company was taken over by Mariano Conde Sr.'s sons, Felipe and Mariano Conde, who renamed the company "Conde Hermanos Sucesores Sobrinos de Esteso" (the Conde brothers, successors of Conde's nephews). Esteso).

Each generation has brought its own personal touch to the making of guitars. Their workshop has been a training ground for many talented Spanish violin makers, helping to preserve and promote the art of violin making in Spain.
