In the 1970s, Chet Atkins played a lot of classical guitar. And it was in 1981 that Gibson introduced the Chet Atkins CE and CEC models, which allowed classic playing without amplification problems, especially on stage. These “classic” guitars owe more to Les Paul than Hauser or Torres, with a spruce top on a solid mahogany body.
