Starting as a carpenter with the Belga Tramway Company, it was very quickly after moving to Turin in 1900 that Luigi Ferrarotti began building mandolins and guitars.

He worked in his workshops with his sons, who still keep the Ferrarotti name alive in their famous historic workshop V ia Thures 10.

Many luthiers were inspired by Luigi Embergher.
And Luigi Ferrarotti, bearing the same first name as the master, is no exception.
At the beginning of the 20th century, many luthiers sought to “copy” Embergher models, whose reputation was already well established.
But many made simple copies without understanding what made the instruments of the Roman luthier so good.
Here, this is not the case.

Luigi Ferraroti not only took over, in the particularities of his instruments, Luigi Embergher, but also put at the service of this mandolin, an exceptional mastery of manufacturing, from the choice of woods to construction.
Located in the North of Italy, in Turin, it has not escaped the influence of Roman violin making.
He was also rewarded at the Universal Exhibition in Turin in 1911.
