Carmelo Catania 1/ERA from 1965

€0
Carmelo Catania was a Sicilian luthier.
He established a factory in Catania, Sicily.

He produces guitars and spare parts for his Catania brand but also for other Italian brands.
It is particularly known for these guitars with an unusual look like this 1/ERA with half-moon soundholes.
He also manufactured electric guitar models from the early 1950s.

Claudio Baglioni and Domenico Modugno both started with Carmelo Catania guitars, like many others.
Indeed, a large portion of entry-level Italian acoustic guitars in the 1960s were produced by Carmelo Catania before he died in 1970.

This guitar is surprisingly light and narrow in sides.
It fully corresponds to the style of the 1960's with a particular detail being that these gills are in the shape of a half-moon, a reminder of the shape of which is made on a plate inlaid on the head.
